Winter

The Vallorcine and Chamonix valleys provide unrivalled opportunities for exciting winter holidays.

There is a ‘bunny slope’ for new skiers close to the Bellevue as well as a new telecabine in the centre of Vallorcine that will whisk you up to the popular slopes of "Domaine de Balme". The Domaine de Balme (which includes Le Tour) offers great slopes for beginners and intermediates as well as hidden gems for expert off-piste skiers. We are a 10-minute train ride from the world-renowned Grands Montets ski area, which provides great ski terrain for the on- or off-piste skier alike.

The Chamonix Valley boasts one of the most famous ski runs in the world: the Vallée Blanche. With its 14 km of glaciated terrain, this is one of the longest, most beautiful off-piste runs in the world. When snow conditions are right, you can add another 6 km to the descent for almost 2800 vertical metres of downhill skiing. As this trip involves the navigation of massive glaciers, you are best advised to hire a mountain guide. In addition to ensuring your safety, a guide will help you get the most out of your Vallée Blanche experience – and perhaps even provide a ski tip or two.

But there is more to Chamonix than skiing. Climbers from around the world come to the Alps for the excellent ice climbing. And there are many great snowshoeing trails, some of the best of which begin right behind the Bellevue.

What a day!
Half a metre of fresh pow on the top of the Aiguille du Midi. The excitement was palpable. Check the snow pack and drop in. What a feeling!

From the Aiguille du Midi, expert skiers will find some of the most challenging lift-accessed terrain on the planet. Beware, watch out... and hold on!

Climbing and mountaineering doesn't stop just because it’s winter. World-class icefalls are found close to the Bellevue Alpine Lodge. Since the re-opening of the Mont Blanc tunnel connecting Chamonix with Courmayeur, the Italian ‘Val di Cogne’ ice climbing mecca is only 1.5 hours from the lodge.
